Antique Georgian Stuart Crystal Earrings with 14k Gold Wires

Sale price$0.00

This exceptionally collectible pair of antique Stuart crystal earrings would have crafted some time soon after the beheading of King Charles I in 1649, when it became popular amongst Royalists to signify their continued loyalty to the monarch. Behind fuchsia foil-backed rock crystals of remarkable clarity lie woven swaths of hair ornamented with characteristic gold ciphers, creating depth as rich as the history of the pieces themselves. Silver colette settings surround the crystals and 14k gold wire backers have been added, transforming them from their original use as cufflinks into pieces as wearable as they are collectable.
