Antique c. 1838-1864 French Egyptian Revival 18k Gold Ruby and Opaline Obelisk Pendant

Sale price$0.00

This breathtaking sculptural Egyptian Revival obelisk pendant features a plethora of ornate designs enhanced by enamel in cornflower blue, cobalt and milky white. Twinkling rubies and opaline cabochons cluster about in floral patterns, highlighting the engraved intricacies with their wondrous glow. Given the French import hallmarks used between 1838-1864 for 18k gold, we have a fairly precise idea of when and where this piece lived its first life- adding all the more to the enchantment of its presence. It would have been worn upon a chatelaine and likely held a useful sewing tool.
